Should I pull the skin taut or pinch it for subcutaneous injections?

For subcutaneous injections, pinching is generally preferred as it bunches the fatty tissue and ensures you're injecting into the subcutaneous layer rather than muscle. Pulling skin taut is more appropriate for intramuscular injections. The technique may vary based on body composition - very lean individuals should always pinch, while those with more body fat may not need to. CDC Technique Guidelines
