Signs of infection include increasing redness spreading beyond the injection site, warmth, swelling, pus or drainage, increasing pain over 24-48 hours, fever, or red streaks extending from the site. Most injection site reactions (mild redness, minor swelling) resolve within 24 hours. If symptoms worsen or persist beyond 2-3 days, seek medical evaluation.
