What causes bruising at injection sites and how can I prevent it?

Bruising occurs when the needle punctures a small blood vessel under the skin. To minimize bruising: rotate sites properly, avoid areas with visible veins, use sharp new needles, inject slowly, and apply gentle pressure (not rubbing) after injection. Certain supplements like fish oil and aspirin can increase bruising risk. PubMed - Injection Site Reactions
