What should I do if medication leaks out after injection?

Small amounts of leakage (called leakback) can occur when medication tracks back through the needle pathway. To minimize: wait 5-10 seconds after injecting before withdrawing the needle, release any skin pinch before removing the needle, and withdraw smoothly without wiggling. Occasional small leakage is normal and usually doesn't significantly affect dosing. ADA - Preventing Leakback
